OBX Storm Tournament Naming Contest

OBX Storm is proud to announce a contest to name the spring soccer tournament that will be open to all youth soccer clubs in United States Youth Soccer Association. 

This soccer tournament will be held on the Outer Banks in May of 2013 and is expected to bring in hundreds if not thousands of visitors for the tournament weekend.

This is a great opportunity for the community to share the natural beauty of the Outer Banks with new visitors as well as watch our local players compete against some of the best youth soccer teams around.

It is the goal of the OBX Storm Soccer Club to make this an annual event to promote local youth soccer and to further enhance off season vacationing on the Outer Banks.

What is there to win?

The winner will receive four tickets to see the United States Men’s National Team, (USMNT), play the Brazilian Men’s National Team at FedEx Field in Landover Maryland on Wednesday May 30, 2012.  These tickets are near the national team fan club that will make the game experience even more memorable.  Here's a video of what it is like behind the fan club during the USA vs. Jamaica game in the summer of 2011.

This is a very important match to help the USMNT prepare for qualifying for the 2014 World Cup. Qualifying starts in June of 2012. The top players from both countries should be on hand for this game including Americans Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan, Tim Howard and Michael Bradley. The seats are near the American fans so you can help cheer on the USA to victory!

How do I submit a contest name(s)?

One entry per person can be submitted on an official form.  Each form allows for three contest names.

The entry must be submitted on an official entry form found on the OBX Storm web site www.obxstorm.net

Entries must be completely filled out, sealed and placed in the sealed contest naming box found at Chili Peppers in Kill Devil Hills prior to 5 PM on May 14, 2012.

How is a winner chosen?

The winner will be the entry whose contest name is chosen or whose contest name inspires the final contest name.

Who chooses the winner?

The OBX Storm marketing committee along with a local marketing professional will judge each name and will have the responsibility of choosing the winner.

What if multiple entrants pick the winning name?

In that case a winner will be chosen by lottery.  If that person can not use the tickets then another winning entrant will be chosen.

What name characteristics are we looking for?

Entrants are only limited by their imagination. However the name should help people remember the Outer Banks and should be able to be used for future soccer tournaments.

When will the winner be chosen?

The winner will be contacted on May 16, 2012 and will be announced on the club’s web site and in local media.
